What Is Blepharoplasty?
During blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, a plastic surgeon removes small portions of excess skin and fat deposits to reveal a more alert and refreshed appearance. For patients with excessively sagging upper eyelids, this procedure can actually improve their vision as well.
A customizable treatment, Dr. Stephen Hardy can perform blepharoplasty on the lower eyelids, the upper eyelids, or both in the same treatment session. Thanks to our surgeon's skill, our modern equipment, and our certified facilities, we are able to offer blepharoplasty on an outpatient basis. What to Expect After Eyelid Surgery
Recovery
Recovery from blepharoplasty is typically quick and involves only minimal discomfort. During the first few days, you may experience some minor irritation, sensitivity, or visual changes, such as blurred or double vision.
Following Dr. Hardy's aftercare instructions will do much to expedite your healing time and reduce discomfort. Most patients will take about a week away from work, although swelling and bruising may be noticeable for a short period of time thereafter.
Results
As the initial swelling and bruising begin to subside a few days after your surgery, you will notice the results of your procedure. Lifted upper eyelids will reveal improved contours from lid to brow. Patients with previously blocked vision should have a restored field of sight. The appearance of bags or drooping under the eyes will be remarkably less noticeable.
Patients should keep in mind that blepharoplasty is designed to treat the eyelids. Anatomically adjacent areas, such as the brow or cheeks, will not be affected.
